Cinnamon Syrup

This cinnamon syrup played a role in a couple of our steakhouse-inspired recipes from March 2021.

INGREDIENTS

2 cinnamon sticks, whole
½ cup sugar
½ cup hot water

Yield: ¾ cup

In a small, dry saucepan, toast two cinnamon sticks on medium-low heat for 7-8 minutes, shifting in pan and ensuring they don’t burn. (Lower heat if it gets too hot.) Add sugar and hot water and stir. Heat on medium-low, stirring frequently until sugar is dissolved (but no longer), about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cover. Steep syrup at least 30 minutes or up to four hours (longer = stronger flavor). Let syrup cool completely before use.
