The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks by David A. Embury

(1948) An interesting book published just after WWII by an attorney who was also a cocktail enthusiast. Though not dissimilar to a gentleman’s companion, this book seems to bridge the gap across the gender binary. Before this, books on entertaining and cocktailing at home were geared either toward men or women. Embury is an epicure and a person of taste, encouraging home bartenders to better understand the spirits and templates behind their favorite cocktails.
