The Savoy Cocktail Book by Harry Craddock

(1930) An important collection of recipes from the American Bar at London’s Savoy Hotel; a look into British & expat cocktails in the ‘20s. There are some pitfalls with this book. There are hundreds of recipes, ranging from those with origins in the 18th century right on up through the contemporary period. Notes on garnish are often omitted and recipes aren’t annotated to reveal their original source. Still, it’s an iconic tome.
