The Ideal Bartender by Tom Bullock

(1917) The first extant cocktail manual to be written by a Black American bartender. Bullock was based in St Louis for most of his career and was well-known there. His book is an excellent resource, and a look at the Midwestern cocktail movement in the years just before Prohibition.
