1934 Zombie
The original standard-bearer drink of the California Tropical movement (later known as “tiki). This is the first and best example of the Don the Beachcomber method of splitting each element in a Planter’s Punch (rum, juice, sweetener) between multiple products to create complexity. Imitations sprung up almost immediately and the Zombie helped to spread “tiki” around the world.
INGREDIENTS
2½ oz. Zombie mix
¾ oz. lime juice
½ oz. grapefruit juice
½ oz. falernum
¼ oz. cinnamon syrup
¼ oz. spiced grenadine
3 dashes Angostura bitters
7 drops Absinthe
Garnish: mint, dehydrated lime, and a smoking cinnamon stick
ABV LEVEL
Combine all in a large mixing tin. Flash blend for 8 seconds with 1 scoop pebble ice. Dump into a Zombie glass. Top with more pebble ice. Garnish with mint, dehydrated lime and a smoking cinnamon stick.
