Brooklyn 2008

The original Brooklyn Cocktail first appeared in print in 1908 as a mixture of rye, dry vermouth, Maraschino and French bitter liqueur Amer Picon. Fast forward 100 years to the heyday of the Cocktail Renaissance, where forgotten classics, European bitters, and añejo tequila all landed on the scene with a splash.

INGREDIENTS

1½ oz. aged tequila
¾ oz. fino or Manzanilla sherry
¾ oz. amaro
1 dash orange bitters
6 drops
“brine”
Orange peel, for garnish

ABV LEVEL

Combine all in a mixing glass. Add plenty of ice and stir. Strain into a double rocks glass and add a big cube, or several small cubes, of ice. Garnish with an expressed orange twist.
