Dirty Banana

I had never heard of this drink before researching this month’s theme, but I really like the combination of coffee and banana in this milkshake-like frozen treat from the Caribbean resorts of the late twentieth century. Layers of different rums, spices, and vanilla go beautifully with the two star flavors.

INGREDIENTS

¾ oz. Jamaican rum
¾ oz. dark rum
¾ oz. aged 151
¾ oz. banana liqueur
¾ oz. coffee liqueur
½ oz. cold brew concentrate
¼ oz. vanilla syrup
¼ oz. coffee Ango
6 drops saline solution
1 frozen banana, broken into a few pieces
2 oz. half and half (or 1 oz. milk & 1 oz. cream)

Garnish: nutmeg, banana leaf (or what you will)

ABV LEVEL

Combine all in a blender. Add 1 scoop pebble ice,  put the lid on, and blend until well combined and no banana lumps remain. Pour into a footed glass, like a hurricane glass, and garnish however you want! I like nutmeg for the flavor, but you could use chocolate syrup on the inside of the glass, banana chips, etc.; something to give it height, like a banana leaf, is nice too!
