Fox River Sling
A riff on the Fox River Toddy from the Hoffman House bartender guide (1905). This cold-weather sipper is perfect for November, presaging the holidays with flavors of rich chocolate, malt and nutmeg.
INGREDIENTS
2 oz. rye whiskey
¼ oz. crème de cacao
1 teaspoon demerara syrup
2 dashes bitters, preferably Bogart's
ABV LEVEL
To properly freeze your glass, put it in the freezer at least 2 hours before making your cocktail.
Combine all in a mixing glass. Fill mixing glass three-quarters up with ice. Stir for 20 seconds. Strain into a frozen single rocks glass. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
