Melon Delight

For this month’s theme, I took a look at the food menus at Borscht Belt resorts–drink menus are generally more ephemeral or nonexistent and hard to find–and even though the words “melon delight” didn’t appear, I thought they’d fit right in. This drink’s kind of an oddball as far as its construction, but it works and is exceedingly refreshing.

INGREDIENTS

1½ oz. dry vermouth
½ oz. vodka 
1½ oz. cantaloupe juice
½ oz lemon juice
¼ oz. honey syrup
6 drops saline
1-2 oz. seltzer, to top

Garnish: mint bouquet


ABV LEVEL

Combine all except seltzer in a tin. Flash-blend without ice (you can also use something like an aerolatte milk frother) until fluffy, about 10 seconds. In a tall glass, pour over regular cubes and top with 1-2 oz. seltzer. Garnish with slapped mint.
