Rye Alexander

This dessert cocktail was one I developed during the winter of 2019-20. I wanted to give the classic Alexander template, which emerged in the years before Prohibition, a banana-nut profile. Dry and spicy rye was the perfect accompaniment for this combination of liqueurs.

INGREDIENTS

1 oz. rye whiskey
1 oz. cream
½ oz. walnut liqueur
½ oz. crème de cacao
Nutmeg, for garnish


ABV LEVEL

Combine ingredients in shaker, shake well to chill, double strain (through Hawthorne and fine mesh strainers) into a coupe and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
