Spiced rum
We used this spice rum for our October 2023 Top’s Tavern theme.
INGREDIENTS
1-1L bottle of aged rum*
½ vanilla bean
1 large orange peel
4 allspice berries
6 whole cloves
6 whole black peppercorns
Half a nutmeg
2 slices of fresh ginger
*I used Appleton Signature this month; we used to use El Dorado 5 at Fort Defiance.
Yield: 1 liter
Combine all ingredients in a nonreactive container. (Reserve rum bottle for rebottling.) Stir well to combine. Steep for at least three days. Strain out solids, rebottle, date & label.
