Commodore No. 3

This cocktail is based on the Commodore No. 2 from The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book, a Sour comprised of bourbon, crème de cacao, lemon and grenadine. We kept the general makeup of the cocktail, choosing rye over bourbon, lime over lemon, and demerara syrup for the grenadine. A very good variation, I think.

INGREDIENTS

1½ oz. rye
1 oz. crème de cacao
¾ oz. lime juice
1 teaspoon
demerara syrup

ABV LEVEL

Combine all in a shaker. Fill shaker with ice two-thirds of the way up. Seal and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine strainer, strain into a coupe or other stemmed cocktail glass. No garnish.
