Southside Cinnamint

The Southside cocktail very likely originated on Long Island in the waning years of the nineteenth century. Simply a Gimlet (or St. Peter) with mint, our version features the unexpected-but-welcome addition of cinnamon to this classic sour.

INGREDIENTS

1½ oz. London dry gin
¾ oz. lime juice
½ oz. creme de menthe
½ oz. (scant)
cinnamon syrup
A long skinny strip of lime peel, for garnish

ABV LEVEL

Combine all in a cocktail shaker. Add plenty of ice and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain into a coupe. Using a channel knife, make a very long strip of lime peel. Twist it around your index and middle fingers and hold for 5 seconds. Place it in the glass, letting part of it hang over the side.
