Tyrolean Negroni II

This is the “root cocktail” for this month’s programming, i.e. the drink that determined the core of our supply list. I came up with the original Tyrolean Negroni at Gigantic a couple years ago: super piney gin, Carpano Antica and a split measure of Braulio and Sfumato. This updated version comes together beautifully and does a great job of showcasing the blanc vermouth.

INGREDIENTS

1 oz. aged gin
1 oz. blanc vermouth
1 oz. Braulio or Cynar
Rosemary sprig, for garnish

ABV LEVEL

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass. Fill three-quarters full with ice and stir for 20 seconds. Strain into a single rocks glass (no ice)–or, if you prefer, into a double rocks glass with ice. Light the tip of a rosemary sprig and lay it across the glass. Warning: extinguish before sipping.
